We may have received another update, an unconfirmed Google Search algorithm update on June 27th and 28th. Google’s Danny Sullivan talked about how Google communicates about Google’s algorithm updates at the Google NYC SEO meeting. Google has updated the Extended Performance Guidelines to prohibit the selection of products that are widely banned or regulated, or that could cause serious harm to themselves or others. Google has clarified more about the 15 MB Googlebot indexing limit. Google updated its crawl statistics report help documentation. Google released a video on SEO tips for e-commerce sites. Google explained how to inject canonical link tags using JavaScript. I had to write a reminder that Google no longer uses the supplementary index, which was sad. Google added a pros and cons feature to the Google Search snippets. Google Top Stories now groups news stories by topic. Google is testing expandable local related courses. Google’s knowledge panel on cars marks hybrids and electric cars as green. Google Maps is testing a new local panel with tabs and images. Google is testing a new feature to find places through reviews. Bing tests a “click to see the full answer” function and a “from this page” function, which are selected excerpts. Bing has also been tested and shows the “use tab” in the auto-completion bar. Google automatically selects background colors for some image snippets. Google also tests shading of Google Shopping Adcs background colors and also tests retailers’ sliders. Google also added a Discover Shopping search filter to filter by black-owned, Latino-owned, veteran-owned, or women-owned businesses. Google is going to pay Wikipedia to reuse its content, which is great.
